How to make delicious Aasmi at home

A deep-fried sweet, Aasmi is prepared with a conglomeration of coconut milk and rice flour, combined with the juice extract of cinnamon leaves and fried deep in the oil. What makes this Sri Lankan sweet even more interesting is the fact that after frying, it is given a resting time for a few days and again fried deep in the oil only to get light and crispy Aasmi. Will you need
- Rice Flour 500 g
- 1 cup of thick coconut milk
- Salt
- Cooking oil
- Dawul Kurundu Leaves (Handful)
- (Cinnamon Leaves). If you can't able to find this ingredient, you can use okra extract.
- Sugar 250 g
- Food coloring (as per your choice)
Let's make Aasmi
- Take a bowl and add rice flour, salt and coconut milk
- Then, mix well together to get a thick sauce
- Put dawul kurundu and a little bit of water into a mortar and crush them. Then, take the juice from it
- Add the dawul kurundu juice to the flour mixture and mix well again
- Next, take a pot and add oil
- Heat the oil
- Then, take a little of the mixture and with a fork spoon pour it into the oil pan and make a net like a few rounds
- fry both sides and fold it in half
- After about 2 hours, fry again for the second time
- Then, take another pot and add sugar, water and a few drops of food coloring
- Next, heat it to make syrup
- Then, Design the Aasmi with the colored thick sugar syrup by making beautiful design and swirls. Serve fresh
